About Every Body Humboldt
Healing through Mindful Movement, Art, & Community
Every Body Humboldt works to create accessible healing opportunities and spaces through embodiment, expressive arts and community programming, using a trauma-informed lens. We believe that these tools for healing, creating and building resiliency should be accessible to all, regardless of physical ability, race, gender identity, sexual identity and economic status.
Every Body Humboldt is a DreamMaker Project of The Ink People, a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt California nonprofit corporation.
About Sarah Matik
Every Body Humboldt was founded by Sarah Matik, an activist, artist, art teacher and accessible/trauma-informed yoga teacher and body worker. She has taught art using a social justice and story-telling framework for 12 years in non-traditional settings such as galleries, art museums, public programming, and creative reuse centers.
Her personal art practice is deep in the Social Practice tradition, engaging participants in personal exploration and community connection through play, experimentation and collaborative work. She has practiced yoga for 11 years and taught yoga for five and has been touched by it’s effect on depression, anxiety and trauma.
Sarah graduated from the Arcata School of Massage’s 650-Hr Massage Therapy Program and received her Yoga Alliance RYT-200 from Jai Yoga Arts in Brooklyn, NY and Reiki Level 1 in the Usui Shiki Ryoho lineage from the SF Reiki Center’s Christopher Tellez. She has continued to study yoga & embodiment modalities with Jivana Heyman, Hala Khouri, Yoga Behind Bars and Samantha Akers. Sarah is a certified Domestic Violence counselor through the State of California and has completed the Mental Health First Aid USA program.
